random acts of violence not so random anymore...
This article about Sarah Walker and pointing fingers in the wrong direction really makes me think. I mean, it's so much easier to point the finger at someone who knows the victim and/or is angry/wants revenge/whatever. It makes it easier for everyone to sleep at night because now there is a reason for killing that person and "being in the wrong place at the wrong time" will never happen to any of us. Everyone has thought that before... "It will never happen to me." I see why the media is so quick to point the finger. Once there is a victim, there has to be a murderer and it's easier for the media to pick someone angry and related to the victim.

Ravenstoke
I usually find the commercials for Axe pretty entertaining, but this one is ridiculous. It didn't make me laugh and I was waiting for it to be over. Ironically, the part where the plane is flying over the town spraying, reminds me of planes spraying pesticides. It was a very negative image, why didn't the people at Axe catch that?
Killer Shoes
Okay... I'm trying to get better about this blogging thing. Seriously. I'm quite possibly addicted to fashion, or at least looking at it. At the moment I can pretty much only afford whatever Target deems as "in" but that's okay. I think the tables have turned quite a bit in the fashion/fashion advertsing world. Are the designers now catering to the advertisers? I mean the advertisers don't really have to do much anymore... designers are creating products that are alreay selling sex. Forget the ad people, the designers are taking care of their jobs. You can hardley find an ad in any fashion magazine that is the shoe more than the foot that the shoe is on.
Black is Back?
This article makes it seem as though "Black" is a preferable title to be labeled with. That confuses me after several discussions we had in class. A lot of students said they would be offended by the term "black" yet I know several people who refer to themselves as black everyday. It seems like this is something the world will never get or set straight.
